February, 2023 - The green room is home to brassica seedlings, microgreens and herb seedlings. One goal is to grow more medicinal herbs this year. We have taken dozens of cuttings from our elderberry bushes and hope to expand that production. We are also planning to grow six-packs of several varieties of lettuce, kale, cabbage, brocolli and other Brassicas for sale at our Seed and Seedling sale on May 20th.

September, 2022 - We continue to have the pole beans, microgreens, gourmet cupcakes, zucchini bread and pickle relish. The garden is winding down. The strawberry patch and asparagus have multiplied nicely, so we are hoping for a harvest next year. We are expanding out square footage to include an area specifically for spreading plants like squash and pumpkins. The corn section needs a different approach - we were able to keep out the deer but not the racoons, so our fencing will be different.

August, 2022 - The tomatoes are finally coming in. We have a very colorful selection of cherry tomatoes, Cherokee Purple, Beefsteak and Bonnie Best tomatoes. The peppers are coming along nicely and should be ready soon: Sweet Chocolate pepper, Kalugeritsa Macedonian peppers (Jalapeno-level heat), Death Spiral and Carolina Reaper peppers (over 1 million Scoville units).

July, 2022 - We have zucchini, crooked neck squash, cucumber and three colors of beans: Kentucky pole green beans, Blauhilde purple beans and yellow wax beans. Also, we have Detriot Red beets and Chiogga beets.

June, 2022 - Our farm is on a hill. The area for the tomato/pepper/eggplant raised beds has been graded, the retaining wall installed and raised beds put in. As the plants went into the ground late, it will take some time for them to get established. Peas are in. Cucumbers and summer squash are coming on.

May, 2022 - We have beautiful microgreens; a spicy salad mix, pea shoots, a mild salad mix, turnip sprouts, and broccoli sprouts. We are also selling our book, The Colonials, and gourmet cupcakes like Lemon-Basil Cupcakes with a homemade Basil frosting - VERY popular.

April, 2022 - The cattle panel climbing trellis is up and the peas have been direct-sown to climb on it. The cabbage  and purple cauliflower have been planted and are covered with a row cover, soon to be followed by asparagus and strawberries. Due to the frequent rains preventing any heavy machinery in the garden, the tomato/pepper/eggplant space has not yet been completed. Their seedlings are ready and rearin' to go in the green room, though. Had a great day at the Old Washington Art and Chocolate Festival - met a lot of potential farmer's market customers. Also started to sell cupcakes and my book - copy the link below to get your copy today!

March, 2022 - I have sown a lot of artichoke and lavender in the Green room and will plant them between the two deer fences (it's a 3D deer fence with two rows of solar-powered wire). These plants are noted to be deer resistant - we will see. I have some asparagus sprouting in the Green room and plan to plant them intermixed with strawberries in  a "perennial" garden. All of the orchard trees have been planted as well. March 8 was the Farm and Family Night at Maysville Community College. I met a lot a great people, farmers and consumers, and sold a few containers of microgreens as well.

February, 2022 - Several sowings of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant have started growing (12 tomato varieties, 10 pepper varieties, 3 eggplant varieties. Heating mats have really helped the peppers to sprout. These will stay in the Green room until the outdoor greenhouse is completed. Herbs have also been started with the hope of having 3x3 plants to sell at market. They include 4 varieties of basil, thyme, stevia, sage, Zaatar oregano, lemongrass and watercress.

Late-January, 2022 - San-Marzano and Cherry Tomatoes are growing well from seeds harvested in my Cali garden. Several tomato and cabbage plants have been transplanted from the seed tray to larger pots to see how large they will grow in the Green room. Kale seeds from my friend garden in Cali are also growing.

Mid-January, 2022 - First pass of the website is complete. All plant pictures and descriptions are in. In the "Green room," I just retired the first microgreens that were grown for the Christmas/New Year season. Also in the Green room, I have started the first flat of veggies for plants to sell (I know, it's too early but I just had to try it). Cabbage and onions are growing well. San Marzano's have not popped their heads up yet. These seeds were harvested from my Cali-grow monstrous San Marzano vines last fall.
