The Colonials: A Modern America Survival Story

Written by Heirloom Hill farmer, D.J. Christianson

(description from book jacket)

In this modern post-apocalyptic/fantasy crossover, Anna Carlson moves her family away from the city with the intent of becoming a self-sufficient farming family that could withstand the winds of change as the U.S. becomes increasingly more unstable, both politically and financially. She buys the 200-year-old farm built by her ancestor who fought in the Revolutionary War but quickly discovers that farming is much harder than she anticipated. She needs help, and incredibly, gets it, in the supernatural presence of the very ancestors who built the farm. Unable to explain the miracle, Anna’s family adjusts to their new reality working together with their ancestors, building a fully functional farm within one short year which leads to mounting suspicion amongst the local townsfolk. As Anna's "extended family" embraces the farming life, the country is dealt a debilitating blow, plunging the entire nation into an existence with no electricity or modern communication, a collapsed infrastructure and no government. Anna's family becomes the dangerous center of attention of the "unprepared” and must find a way to survive the new reality, in the process becoming instrumental in rebuilding a new society. Life and death conflicts grow between neighbors and strangers alike, becoming clear that the struggle is not just between humans, but also between the supernatural elements of good and evil.
